Most Googled “How” Questions of 2017

Want the secret to writing content people are looking for? Psst, it’s Google. They literally tell us exactly what to write about on Google Trends. All you need to do is find “how” questions that relate to your business.

By asking a “how” question we imply a problem, and your business should solve problems for consumers, right? In this article, I’m breaking down how you might capitalize on the most Googled “how” questions of 2017.

Top 9 “how” questions asked on Google:

1. How do they name hurricanes:

As a flood restoration company, I’d write an article about how hurricanes are named. This article will be relevant every hurricane season, and so will my business.

2. How many teaspoons are in a tablespoon:

As the owner of a cooking or baking website, I’d write a short article and offer a printable conversion chart as a free download in exchange for an email address.

3. How soon should you take a pregnancy test:

Ok. I’ll admit it, this one was difficult for my young male brain. Let me know how you think we could capitalize on this search.

4. How to make solar eclipse glasses:

As a DIYer at the time of the eclipse, I would’ve released a video and written guide about how to make eclipse glasses.

5. How to buy bitcoin in Canada:

As a financial advisor now might be a good time for me to start writing about Bitcoin (whether I agree or disagree with it as an investment). People are interested in Bitcoin and they might be interested in my advice. With Bitcoin gaining popularity with millennials, this might be a conversation starter with that demographic.

6. How to renew a Canadian passport:

As a travel agent or flight broker, this is a great piece of evergreen content to write about. Every year thousands of people migrate to warmer parts of the world for a week or two to escape the harsh Canadian winter. How many do you think need to update their passport?

7. How to make slime:

As a DIYer, I’d be making a how-to video and article.

8. How often should you wash your hair:

As a hairdresser/beauty blogger, I’d be creating multiple pieces on this:

  • How much should I wash my hair
  • 10 signs you’re washing your hair too much
  • How often should you wash your hair

9. How much does it cost to build a house:

As a real estate agent, mortgage broker or contractor I would write an article about the pros and cons of building versus buying. This might be an emerging trend with the cost of houses rising in Canada!
